Frequently Asked Questions

What will happen during my appointment?

Your appointment will begin with an initial consultation (All information will be treated confidentially.) The consultation is not included in your treatment time. Your bespoke treatment will follow and at the end you will be given aftercare advice. During your massage you can undress to your level of comfort. For most people this is down to underwear. You will be covered with towels or drapes throughout the massage and only the body part being treated will be exposed.

What's the difference between Deep Tissue massage and Swedish massage?

Swedish massage incorporates long sweeping strokes and kneading of muscles to release muscle tension, increase blood flow and relax the mind. Deep tissue massage is slower and uses firmer pressure to target specific tensions in the muscles and fascia. Although is is a firmer massage, it should not be painful, I will warm up the area and wait for your muscles to adjust before applying deeper targeted techniques.

What happens if I am late for my appointment?

If you are late, I may have to shorten your appointment in order adhere to my other scheduled appointments.

Can treatments be customised?

All treatments are tailored to your specific needs. If there is a body part that you don't want massaged, just mention it during your consultation.

Is there parking nearby?

Yes, there is usually a space to park right outside on the driveway or free street parking on nearby roads if you prefer. There is also a bus stop just outside. I will email you with useful information and directions before your appointment.

Can you diagnose my pain?

No. since I am not a medical professional I am not able to give any medical diagnosis.

What payment methods do you accept?

I accept card payment, chip and pin, contactless, apple Pay and Google Pay in person. Payments can also be made online through my website booking system.  I also accept cash or online bank transfer. Any online payments are to be made before treatment.

Will I need to climb any stairs to get to the treatment room?

Yes, the treatment room is located on the first floor, there is one set of carpeted stairs with hand rail to access this room.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please be aware that same day cancellations will incur a cancellation fee of 50% of the treatment cost.

Late cancellations and ‘no-shows’ disrupt the conscientious and prompt service I aspire to provide to all, I am very busy and there will always have been someone who could have been fitted in to missed appointment slots, which is why, as a courtesy to other clients these charges exist.

Why do you only treat  women?

Due to safety reasons, I only accept female clients. I apologise for any inconvenience.

When should I avoid massage treatment?

Massage is a safe and non invasive therapy but it is not for everyone. People with high blood pressure, cancer, deep-vein thrombosis, and certain skin conditions should check with a doctor before getting a massage. If you have a fever, feel dizzy, have recently been in an accident, have any contagious infections or are in the first trimester of pregnancy you may want to postpone your massage appointment. These will be discussed in an initial consultation.

What kind of oil do you use?

I use oil in all my massages. I use either coconut, grapeseed or jojoba oil depending on the treatment. If you have any allergies or sensitivities,  please let me know during your consultation.

Can I book a treatment for my 16 year old daughter?

For insurance purposes - I only accept bookings for women ages 18 and above. Sorry for any inconvenience.

I've just had a baby, can I book a massage?

As a general rule, following a natural delivery, you can receive massage as soon as you feel comfortable to. Following a caesarean delivery, the standard recommendation is 4-6 weeks. Essentially, after your incision has healed and you feel comfortable lying face down on the table.
